Life Cycle & Habitat Voice Thread
My original plan to collaborate with the 1st grade class was for Ms. Contreras class to respond then my class. Unfortunately, because of time we were not able to do that. We still used a spiral curriculum with our students because both Voice Thread projects contained life cycle and habitats. This lesson plan was a PROJECT WILD lesson with my modifications for my students. The TEKS for 1st grade were life cycles and 3rd grade was habitat. On the Voice Thread I used visual cueing by adding the buttons to respond to on each slide. When I created the Voice Thread instructions I was not sure if they were going to be useful to my students. I decided to use Rogers Diffusion of innovations ask a student if the instructions were helpful, her comment was " I did not use it" but on the slides " The respond button on reach slide was helpful. I would really like to see other classes comment to each other about the slides. I know that will be my next Voice Thread project!!
Voice Thread changes:
I would upload my Voice Thread as a .jpeg file because I lost my graphics to presentation.
Remember to create your Voice Thread use Powerpoint and upload file.
After discussions with my peers they had problems because of the same people using one account. I was the only one in my grade level and still had problems because I was logged into another computer.
Here are a few other Voice Thread projects from my peers:
Trish Love
Michelle Theriot
Princess McChester
HOTS for You!!
1. Do you feel that Voice Thread is too challenging for your students?
2. What would you do to create a higher level of thinking?

Dr. Elwood had named one of our peers from another school as having a blog (Tie Blog 1) that was noteworthy of being a prototype for the rest of us. Well Laura, your completed voice thread is noteworthy of being the new prototype for us all to follow. I like your narration, your slides, and the way that you involved your students. You have made a first rate product. Way to make Zavala proud!!
ReplyDeleteI know that we did ours together but I really liked your finished product. You were able to use some of my information and add in what your students were learning in a very creative way. I enjoyed listening to the student's comments.
DeleteGreat job Laura! I really enjoyed your VoiceThread and by the student's comments they really seemed to enjoy it as well
ReplyDeleteEXCELLENT work, Laura!! You not only followed the concepts of the course well, but you also added the visual cuing elements in your slides as quick help for your students' technical skills to comment. Great job using Roger's Diffusion of Innovations ("extra" from personal conversation with me) in listening to one of your top students to get that extra visual aid.
ReplyDeleteYou also did a great job in obtaining quality responses and interaction among your students using the student IDs.
Great work overall!

ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome job! I really enjoyed watching your VoiceThread. One of my favorite parts was when students had to fill in the blanks of what animal they are and what habitat they would live in. I thought that was really a creative way of getting them to think about animals and the habitat that they live in.
